Description:
Under the direction of the Water lead worker assists in the maintenance and repair of the water system for the city.
Duties:
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of the water distribution mains, and service lines and valves.
- Assists in repairing and maintenance of wells and pressure reducing valves.
- Assists in maintenance of well houses and related piping.
- Assists in the setting of water meters and in their maintenance and repair.
- Works with crew in installation of water service lines and mains.
- Assists in carrying out valve exercising program for the city.
- Assists in the maintenance, repair and testing fire hydrants.
- Operates heavy equipment as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the lead worker.
- Is responsible for crew if lead worker is not on job site.
- Responsible for doing blue stakes for the Dept.
- Responsible for daily monitoring and maintenance of chlorinators and changing empty chlorine tanks when needed.
- Stands available for on-call status and emergency on-call status, as needed.
- Takes daily and monthly readings at points of collection and distribution into the water system,
as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be a high school graduate. Must have 3 years experience at a level equivalent to Water Maintenance I and certification as a Grade II Utah State Water Systems Operator. Must possess a CDL driver's license. Must be a trained cross connection technician within one year of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have knowledge of water systems operations. Must be tactful in dealing with the public. Must have the ability to maintain accurate records and the ability to perform standard mathematical computations quickly and accurately. Must have knowledge of water line maintenance and repair.
Physical Demands:
Must be physically capable of assisting crews as necessary. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and lift heavy loads up to 100lbs.
