Sprinturf leads the market in manufacturing and product innovation out of its two U.S. manufacturing plants. In the Dadeville, Alabama, facility, machines extrude the full range of polyethylene, polypropylene and nylon yarn. The Chatsworth, Georgia, plant houses the tufting and urethane coating operations for Sprinturf. All of our products are installed by experienced in-house crews.
A Urethane Coating Supervisor oversees the application of urethane coatings in a manufacturing setting, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and efficient production by managing a team of approximately 15 hourly associates, monitoring application processes, and maintaining equipment while adhering to industry standards and company specifications.
Responsibilities
Team Management:
- Supervise and train coating associates on proper application techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards related to urethane coatings.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and address performance issues within the team.
- Schedule shifts and manage employee time to meet production goals.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished coated turf to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor and adjust coating application parameters.
- Identify and troubleshoot quality issues, implementing corrective actions to maintain consistency.
Production Efficiency:
- Plan and coordinate coating operations to optimize production flow and meet delivery deadlines.
- Monitor equipment performance, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement process optimization strategies.
Safety Compliance:
- Enforce strict safety protocols related to handling hazardous materials like urethane coatings, including proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Conduct safety training sessions and address safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
Technical Expertise:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of different urethane coating types, their properties, and application methods
- Understand surface preparation techniques required for optimal urethane adhesion.
- Stay updated on new coating technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in industrial coating operations, with a focus on urethane coatings (min 3-5 yrs)
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment 3-5 Yrs
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and procedures to include experience with ISO 9000 Management Systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team
- Experience with business systems. Netsuite highly preferred not required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and work instructions
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and hazardous materials handling procedures
