Position Summary: As a Tax Manager at Sproles Woodard LLP you will lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services for our diverse clientele. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and providing strategic tax planning and advisory services. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary contact for tax-related issues.
- Understand clients' business and personal tax situations to provide tailored tax planning and advisory services.
- Proactively identify and communicate tax planning opportunities to clients.
Tax Compliance and Planning:
- Oversee and manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, and communicate the impact of these changes to clients and team members.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and professional growth.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct complex tax research and analysis to address specific client issues and provide sound tax advice.
- Prepare and present detailed tax memoranda and reports to clients and partners.
- Review and evaluate tax positions and strategies to ensure they align with clients' overall financial goals.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.
- Participate in networking events, seminars, and industry conferences to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials and proposals for new client engagements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree in Taxation or a related field preferred.
- CPA certification is required.
- Minimum of [5-7] years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax.
- Proven experience in managing tax engagements and leading a team of tax professionals.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
