Overview
A Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is a professional who works under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP). This position requires a comprehensive understanding of communication disorders and speech disorders. The SLPA will work in a clinic setting and a school setting. The SLPA will be responsible for following treatment plans created by the SLP and providing direct therapy to clients.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing treatment plans for patients with speech and language disorders.
- Document progress
- Support children in educational settings, collaborating on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and early intervention strategies.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and educational staff to enhance therapy outcomes.
- Stay updated on best practices in speech therapy and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of early intervention strategies and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students and educational staff
