Data and Systems Summer Intern

As a Merchandise Data and Systems Intern, you will assist in developing reporting and analytics that supports merchandising strategies by leveraging data and collaborating with business and technical teams. This role offers hands-on experience in using the power of coding and data visualization, providing a valuable opportunity to develop your understanding of how data is consumed, validated, and developed to bring business stories to life.

As a Merchandise Data and Systems Intern, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into the world of data analysis and business intelligence. By leveraging advanced analysis, reporting tools and collaborating with various teams, you’ll have the opportunity to bring new analytics and perspective to key business stakeholders.

You will assist in creating documentation such as data dictionaries, writing and reviewing code, and developing and enhancing dashboards. Additionally, this internship will offer exposure to the teams and processes that make data usable, as well as context for the “art” of data-driven decision making in the merchandising world.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze Merchandise Performance: Utilize analytical tools and data visualization platforms to generate and articulate insights on merchandise performance, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
• Develop Technical Documentation: Work with IT and business stakeholders to provide foundational data documentation related to business platforms and process.
• Create Reports and Dashboards: Collaborate with technical and business teams to deploy and enhance reports related to key merchandising strategies.

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to solve problems using data analysis techniques.
• Experience or in-progress coursework in SQL, Python, R, or other programming or query languages; data visualization experience a plus.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables.
• Adaptive learner with the ability to navigate and utilize database systems and protocols.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Pursuing a BA/BS degree in data analytics, information systems, finance, statistics, or a related field.

• Current enrollment in a BA/BS program in data analytics, information systems, finance, statistics, or a related field.

• Demonstrated interest or prior coursework in coding (SQL, Python, R, etc.) or data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
