Department Specialist - Bakery

The Bakery Department Specialist supports department merchandising and category management for all assigned areas. This position will assist in the management of detailed pricing strategies while supporting weekly and seasonal promotional planning. They will also help construct and communicate comprehensive business reports and run analytics to optimize performance. This role will work cross functionally with the Category Managers, Culinary, Data Integrity, Marketing, and Finance Teams in order to develop and track key department objectives and sales goals. This position drafts communications, creates reports, and coordinates special projects.

• Works with the Bakery Director to manage department financial worksheets.Provides reporting and detailed analysis against key department sales tactics and initiatives. including weekly ad results using key metrics.
• Supports category management with ad planning, including pricing and layout.
• Oversees the proofing and editing process for weekly ads.
• Manages weekly promotional pricing for designated regions, markets, and/or stores.
• Supports category management and retail merchandising in developing plans and schematics that drive category growth while increasing shares.
• Works with the Category Managers and the Store Operations Team to develop and maintain weekly sales plans that drive sales growth.
• Assist in coordinating new program roll outs and new item processes to target consumer trends while optimizing overall product assortment.
• Create and update department operational standards and production manuals.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency in all department documents and communications.
• Work with store level personnel/operations to resolve pricing, item, and supplier issues.
• Maintains a high level of store and product awareness through store visits as needed.
• Maintain Sprouts culture and a strong working relationship with vendors and co-workers.
• Plan & Manage bi-weekly conference calls for department.
• Performs other related responsibilities as assigned

• Bachelor Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Two (2) years of experience related to perishable retail purchasing, marketing and/or merchandising
• Chef, Supermarket Service Deli and/or Bakery experience required
• Requires outstanding communication skills amongst a strong interpersonal attitude that demonstrates organization, multi-tasking and prioritization
• Requires experience in Microsoft Suite, with a high level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• High degree of creativity and ability to work independently
