What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director, Facilities position at Sprouts Farmers Market?
The Senior Director of Facilities leads the strategy and implementation of repair and mantenenance activites across the fleet and store support center facilities. This position ensures the timely servicing of our stores to provide a safe, continuous operation. Develops strategic capital planning and implementation of replacement systems and equipment. Research, recommend, and implement new innovative technologies to reduce our carbon footprint, and reduce our reliance on energy. Maintain rigor around government compliance.
Overview of Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Design and implement systems and people processes to ensure high visibility to all facilities related areas
- Create strategic capital planning roadmap for facilities related systems, equipment and leashold improvements
- Establish performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and create a continuous improvement culture for our team and vendors
- Develop and maintain key tracking mechanisms to ensure Sprouts meets all state and government compliance measures for facilities related items
- Research new innovative technologies that can improve our stores performance.
Performance:
- Deliver supermarket best-in-industry levels of care to stores and the support center
- Implement capital replacement projects that can minimize our opex and energy expense
- Conduct QBR’s with key vendors to drive bar-raising service at lowest cost to implement
- Maintain a robust preventative maintenance program
- Deliver against targeted financial measures.

- Build and manage a team of technical and professionals that is commensurate with Sprouts growth objectives to drive a best-in-class facilities team.
- Create a service first mindset in our internal team and external vendors
- A highly cross functional approach with key partners areas such as operations, construction, format, legal, real estate, finance, procurement, and portfolio optimization
Compliance & Safety:
- Maintain the highest standards for a safe environment for our team members and shoppers
- Ensure all state and government compliance metrics are met and tracked properly including but not limited to refrigerant tracking.
- Develop and lead a disaster response protocol.
- Together with our Operations partners, develop and implement an annual audit process to ensure our SLA’s and vendor accountability is upheld.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of leadership and management in a similar role.
- 10 years in commercial facilities, preferabiy in the Supermarket or Food Service Industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of Refrigeration, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical.
- A high energy to deliver with a service-first mindset
- Highly effective communicator, collaborator, and critical thinker
- Ability to make risk-calculated decisions, at times with limited information.
- Sets a high bar for self and others to deliver against key strategies
- High financial acumen and strategic planning ability.
- Ability to develop strong teams and provide development and coaching of future leaders.
