Spruce Lake hosts over 30,000 guests each year, including church groups and individual/family retreats.
The Summer Team Assistant is a member of the summer team and is responsible for completing tasks in a variety of departments to provide support to Pinebrook or Spruce Lake summer programs and guests. Summer Team Assistants will be assigned a primary role but may work in a variety of departments such as food service, housekeeping, snack shop, programming, facilities, landscaping, or lifeguarding.
Summer Team Prerequisites:
- Growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and spiritual maturity to lead self and others.
- Must affirm, live and model Spruce Lake Ministries mission, vision, statement of faith and core values.
- Conducts him/herself in a manner that is above reproach.
Accountability: Accountable to Summer Team Manager/s and assigned department supervisors
Qualifications
- High school education of 10th grade or higher
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Maturity and flexibility to work in a variety of roles.
Physical Requirements: Good physical health to meet demands of camp environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Almost all duties include camper and guest interaction. Summer Team members are expected to interact positively and graciously modeling Spruce Lake Ministry values.
Housekeeping Assistant
Duties will include stripping beds, wiping down and scrubbing bathrooms as needed, vacuuming guest rooms, dusting, refreshing linens, and making beds in a fast-paced environment.
Food Service Assistant
Duties will include dish room, kitchen prep and clean up, dining room host / hostess.
Programming Assistant
When on programming assistant assignment, duties will include childcare, facilitation of SLM sponsored program activities.
Snack Shop Attendant
Duties will include scooping and serving ice cream, making and serving milkshakes, frier and grill menu items, cleaning kitchen and restaurant areas.
Facilities Assistant
Duties will include lawn mowing, weed whacking, weeding, stocking firewood, and general upkeep of retreat center grounds.
Other Responsibilities
- Attend weekly staff meetings and prayer times.
- Other duties as assigned.
