Inside Account Manager / Structural Steel Estimator

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review design documents for proper information to receive accurate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate costs of materials, labor, and use of equipment required to fulfill all provisions of the contract.
• Update and maintain the estimating cost data (Tekla EPM) to ensure costs are current/up to date.
• Research construction documents and analyze specifications to determine estimated costs.
• Work with the project manager, detailer, and other members of the team through the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for the constructability issues and determining general requirements on the project.
• Manage and track multiple preconstruction project estimates.
• Assist in identifying and evaluating potential subcontractors and material vendors to perform the project.
• Create proper bid packages.
• Assist management team in filling out required bid forms.
• Familiarity/ Ability with the following software MS excel, MS Word, Tekla EPM and CAD.
• Build customer relationships with new and existing accounts to maximize territory growth
• Understand each customer’s needs, and accurately fulfill expectations for quality, delivery, paperwork, communication, etc.
• Exhibit mentality of problem-solving that helps uncover solutions to customer needs
• Price inquiries in a manner which maximizes revenues, with consideration to minimizing operational costs
• Understand return on invested capital (ROIC), and exhibit decision making abilities which align with the goals of the company
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the steel products and services offered by SPS
• Engage Outside Account Managers and sales management on significant inquiries to help maximize the
  probability of success
• Monitor the overall goals and results of the territory, and the entire company on a regular basis
• Provide feedback related to the market conditions of the territory
• Cooperate with teammates both within and outside the Sales Dept.
• Assist other account managers with their daily activities when needed

Physical & Work Requirements:
• Ensure professional appearance appropriate for meetings with executive level employees or clients
• Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a computer
• Limited travel (3 to 4 times per year max) 
• May require travel to the office in extreme weather conditions

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:
• Proven experience in a role responsible for managing the needs of customers
• Knowledge of general principals of business related to revenue generation, cost impacts and bottom-line results
• Background in the steel industry or a related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience
