Established in 1951, SPS Companies, Inc. is a wholesale distributor of products and services for residential and commercial plumbing, mechanical and industrial piping, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and fire protection. We currently have seven plumbing locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Colorado. SPS Kitchen and Bath Showrooms are located at three of these locations. In addition to plumbing and heating, we also have a fire protection division and a roofing and sheet metal division. As an Employee Owned Company (ESOP), our employees have a vested interest in SPS and its success.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Submit and track purchase orders based on sales and demand.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between ordered and received items.
- Report shortages, mis-shipments and other issues to vendors, ensuring follow-up as needed.
- Manage procurement for assigned product categories and maintain accurate order points.
- Update and maintain pricing and part numbers.
- Monitor and expedite overdue purchase orders.
- Collaborate with vendors to return non-performing inventory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, sales representatives, and internal staff.
- Provide updates on procurement activities and support sales staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as required by management.
Position Requirements:
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Use logic and data to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
This is a full-time, entry-level position reporting to the Purchasing Manager. The position will be in-office, located at the corporate facility in St. Louis Park, MN. Shifts typically range from 8am - 5pm but vary on occasion. Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, life and AD&D, long-term and short-term disability insurance.
