Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development:
- Design and develop hardware components and systems, such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, and power supplies.
- Create and manage documentation for hardware systems and components.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and tools for building and assembling hardware.
- Collaborate with software engineers to ensure the seamless integration of hardware and software.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Build prototypes of hardware systems and components for testing.
- Conduct tests to evaluate performance, durability, and functionality of hardware.
- Identify and troubleshoot hardware issues, ensuring they meet design specifications.
- Perform debugging and diagnostics to resolve design flaws or defects.
- Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all hardware designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., safety, environmental, and EMC regulations).
- Perform reliability testing and ensure that hardware systems function under various conditions.
- Documentation:
- Create technical documentation for hardware designs, including specifications, drawings, and test results.
- Maintain detailed records of hardware configurations, modifications, and design iterations.
- Collaboration:
- Work with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure the hardware meets project requirements and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure timely production and problem resolution.
- Product Improvement:
- Evaluate and implement improvements to existing hardware systems to increase performance, reduce costs, or enhance reliability.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends to continually innovate hardware designs.
- Manufacturing Support:
- Provide support during the manufacturing process, ensuring hardware can be produced at scale while meeting quality standards.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source components and ensure proper assembly procedures.
- Manage system images for rapid configuration prior to deployment.
- Proficiency in hardware design software
- Knowledge of power systems and electrical engineering principles.
- Experience with testing and debugging hardware.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree may be preferred for senior roles).
- Relevant certifications or additional training may be beneficial.
- 2-5 years of experience in hardware design and development (varies depending on the role level).
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
- Secret clearance is required
