Job description
We are seeking a proficient and well-rounded tutor with expertise in various subject areas, but MUST be comfortable working with students in high school AND middle school math courses such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry.
The candidate MUST meet the following eligibility criteria:
1) Possession of a teaching certification/ eligibility.
- In the absence of a teaching certification, a minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.
- Candidates without certification will be required to pursue a statement of eligibility from the Department of Education within 90 days of hire ; more information can be found here. https://www.fldoe.org/teaching/certification/steps-to-certification/step-1-completing-your-initial-applica.stml
- Candidates will need to sit a subject area examination within 90 days of hire, to obtain a temporary teaching certificate
- I WILL WORK WITH YOU IN COMPLETING ALL OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED, SO I DO NOT EXPECT FOR YOU TO DO THAT ON YOUR OWN, it I every easy to do
2) Candidates must have a webcam-equipped computer. You will be hosting calls on Zoom meetings, and will be trained using this software. You will be given company equipment as well..
3) Must reside within Sarasota, Florida or close. Expected to know/learn the laws & regulations of teaching & education in FL. One day a week- Wednesdays- are required at our office location. Hybrid-remote position (remote for the most part).
4) This is a highly flexible position with variable work hours, ranging from 1 to 10 hours per week. Ideal for someone with free afternoons who doesn't require a fixed number of hours. You can adjust your availability on a weekly basis to suit your schedule.
Preference will be given to candidates comfortable teaching multiple subject areas. The position offers a highly flexible schedule, allowing you to establish your own window of availability each week. However, availability during weekday afternoons at least two days a week is mandatory.
This is a position with potential to transition into a full-time role should you be interested. Compensation will be determined based on experience, but will range from a starting pay of $20 -$30 per hour depending on ability to tutor multiple subject areas. Training will be $16/hr and once training is completed, pay will be raised to $20/hr minimum for 30 days,. After 30 days of post-training work completed, pay will be increased again.
Pay raises will be offered after evaluations every 60 days. Reimbursement to obtain a teaching certification may be provided to qualified candidates. Paid continuing education opportunities (travel in state and out of state to seminars & workshops) will be provided as well.
