Job Title: System Safety Analyst/Safety Officer (Apache)
Seeking an experienced individual to support the Apache Attack Helicopter Project Management Office (AAH PMO). An ideal candidate should be highly motivated, a self-starter, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively with other team members.
Must have the ability to conduct research and analysis to determine factual assessments and identify achievable mitigation strategies.
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree or an equivalent amount of relevant experience, and a working knowledge of aviation systems and system safety processes and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive system safety program for an Apache/Weapons System.
- Conduct meetings with internal PMO Staff, matrix support personnel, and contractor personnel to determine the status of safety programs, budgets, costs, schedules, and accomplishments and takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies and/or improve program status.
- Evaluate contractor system safety and health hazard reports for technical competence, completeness and accuracy; then provide and advise the Government with recommended changes to contractor's documentation based on evaluations.
- Lead, guide, and mentor the workforce in dealing with complex problems associated with system safety.
- Lead System Safety Working Group and Safety IPTs.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare, review, and approve major reports and / or policies for internal and external distribution.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must adhere to the company's AS9100 policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Education/Experience:
- 5 years of system safety experience working with the DoD supporting a PMO is desired.
- An undergraduate degree (BS or BA) from an accredited institution or equivalent specific relevant experience is required.
- Experience and knowledge of DoD acquisition and life cycle management policies, procedures and practices with emphasis in aviation maintenance and aviation safety message process is required.
- Experience and knowledge with commercial and military safety standards, practices, and regulations such as MIL-STD-882E, AR 385-10, AMCOM 385-17, RTCA DO-178C, SAE ARP 4754A, SAE ARP 4761, etc. is required.
- Aviation Safety Officer experience is desired.
- AH-64E operational experience is desired.
