Job Title: Systems Administrator
Reports To: IT Manager
Job Summary:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the core infrastructure, ensuring system stability, performance, and security. This role involves server management, network configuration, project implementation, and providing technical support across the organization. The Systems Administrator will collaborate with the IT Lead, other IT staff, and external partners to align processes, implement best practices, and support the organization’s IT needs.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Server and Storage Management:
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers, including clustered environments with SAN.
- Install, configure, and manage server systems, roles, features, file shares, and access controls.
- Perform backups, ensure data integrity, and manage software updates, security patches, and disaster recovery procedures.
· Network and Security Management:
- Configure and manage network infrastructure, including switches, VLANs, wireless access points, and firewall devices.
- Implement and maintain security measures, monitor for threats, and respond to incidents.
- Manage network cabling, including patch panels, structured cabling, and cable management standards.
· IT Implementations and Deployments:
- Lead or assist with IT project implementations, deployments, and testing of new hardware/software systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align processes and ensure successful project outcomes.
· User Support and Training:
- Provide advanced technical support, manage user accounts, and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users and IT staff, and provide ongoing support.
· Procurement and Asset Management:
- Manage inventory, procurement, and deployment of IT equipment and software.
- Track hardware acquisitions, disposals, and ensure proper documentation and organization.
· Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with IT teams within the organization and external partners, such as the Grimme Group, to align processes and leverage resources.
- Participate in IT-related meetings, strategic planning sessions, and contribute expertise to collective goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 4 years of work experience in IT support, system administration, or related roles can substitute.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or related roles. If experience substitutes education, this is in addition to that time.
- Experience in automation is a strong plus
- Experience in SQL server administration is a strong plus
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Proficiency in managing SAN and standard networks
- Experience with implementing and deploying IT projects.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training sessions.
Machines Typically Operated
- Basic clerical machines including computer, printer, adding machine, multiline telephone system, fax machine, postal machine, etc.;
- Using man-lifts/scissor lifts, climbing ladders
