Job purpose
The Night Shift Shop Supervisor is responsible for assisting the shop manager with overseeing the planning and safe execution of all shop activities including but not limited to structural and code welding, fabrication, mechanical and maintenance tasks, materials handling and management of all shop resources (facilities, personnel, tools, equipment, and supplies).
Duties and responsibilities
- Manages shop personnel (time sheets, time-off, overtime…)
- Conducts daily safety meetings and conducts daily Job Safety Analyses
- Assigns shop resources (personnel, tools, equipment and supplies) to projects and provides support to projects in accordance with priorities defined by the program manager
- Make sure all shop activities are safely executed in a timely fashion and meet criteria of quality and compliance with all Quality Standards outlined by Spur Industrial.
- Maintains inventory of shop resources and tracks/allocates resources to corresponding projects
- Oversee the receipt of materials and maintains material documentation
- Oversee all shop documentation: timesheets, weld logs, weld maps, inventories, inspection and training logs, bills of lading, bills of materials, packing slips, X-ray documentation…
- Participate in internal improvement projects and leads their execution
- Oversee safety training, safety supplies and operator qualifications
- Reporting as required
Qualifications
3 to 5 years’ experience managing a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of plasma table, iron worker, press brake and roller and Auto saws Required
Welding experience required
Must be able to read drawings, blue prints and specifications.
Must be able to supervise and manage between 5 to 50 employees
Must be able to address conflicts and performance issues
Strong attention to details and organizational skills required
OSHA certification and forklift license preferred
Basic computer skills required (MS Office). AutoCAD knowledge required.
Knowledge of AISC standards and requirements.
Working conditions
Regular working hours are 3: oopm to 11;30 PM with lunch hours between 7:00 pm – 7:30 PM
Shop environment (indoors and outdoors); noisy and dusty environment.
Overtime is occasionally required as needed to meet deadlines.
Physical requirements
Job requires standing, sitting, lifting (up to 50 lb). Working in a hot or cold, dusty and noisy environment.
