This position supports Spurwink's community-based residences. The Lead Direct Support Professional is expected to maximize consistency of approach and to promote the greatest degree of developmentally appropriate independent functioning. In addition to teaching self-help and basic living skills, a Lead Direct Support Professional helps clients achieve all of the competencies necessary to manage life events successfully, and models these for their team. This will often include the development and use of coping strategies needed to manage emotional dysregulation as well as the use of crisis management strategies.

DUTIES:
- Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Assures that the home has adequate supplies, including household supplies, PPE, cleaning supplies, and paper goods.
- Assures that grocery shopping occurs and there is adequate food in the home, menus are in place, and dietary needs of residents are met.
- Works with DSPs to assure the home is clean and organized.
- Assures that monthly fire drill schedules are in place and drills are completed.
- Assures that the vehicle is safe, clean, and regular maintenance is performed.
- Works with residential manager to schedule medical appointments for residents and assures that staff have proper paperwork for the appointment and receive clear medical notes from the provider.
- Regularly reviews all aspects of medication management, including ordering of medications, storage of medication, removal of expired medications, correct labeling, and ordering, that doctor orders and MARs are correct, and CRMA's have signed the MAR. The Lead DSP reports any findings to the Residential Manager.
- Assists Residential Manager with scheduling when requested.
- Works with Residential Manager to create weekly activities for residents.
- Is knowledgeable of each residents' individual service needs and person-centered plan and works with DSPs to assure their understanding and implementation of these, defining training priorities and developing a training schedule with the Director and/or his/her designee.
- Follows principles taught in MANDT curriculum (behavior management).
- Regularly reviews client data and reports out to Residential Manager.
- Reports any program, staff, or resident concerns to the Residential Manager so that these can be addressed in a timely manner.
- Administers medications and successfully completes the CRMA training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED. One year experience as a DSP or experience in the field of behavioral health or education.
