How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Product Development Engineer I, you will provide engineering support for SPX TAMCO, an industry leader in air control dampers. This is an entry to mid-level engineering position responsible for finding and investigating conceptual product ideas. Working within established procedures, the successful Engineer will be collaborative and creative, with problem solving and technical ability.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be :
- Design and Development
- Develop sound design solutions with drawing, engineering specifications, bills of material, quality plans, and plant procedures for new products
- Develop innovative designs and solutions to problems
- Complete product performance selections
- Responsible for the design and engineering on global product development projects
- Testing and Specifications
- Provide testing and technical support for the TAMCO R&D laboratory under guidance TAMCO director of engineering
- Perform various tests to verify designs perform appropriately
- Conduct product testing during development and post-installation to verify software and data development
- Write engineering specifications for product lines and components
- Witness third party contractual tests
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with manufacturing and sourcing to ensure design is cost effective
- Perform technical bid evaluations, aiding in the vendor selection process, and expediting vendor manufacturing and delivery to meet project deadlines
- Interface with internal and external customers on technical performance issues
