Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections, including witness inspections (e.g., CMM programs) and critical feature verification.
- Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and ensure traceability of records.
- Ensure inspection equipment and methodologies detect defects and align with design intent.
- Review justification for parts not inspected at final inspection and audit against the inspection plan.
- Verify products meet quality standards (e.g., gaps, fairing, contour, workmanship, finishes, paint, skin quality).
- Ensure hardware cleanliness, absence of FOD, and proper application of safety wire and fasteners.
- Confirm supplier provisions for product protection and preservation during processing and shipment.
- Verify First Article Inspection (FAI) completion and compliance, and review shipping documentation for accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in mechanical/composites inspection, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environments.
- Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Familiar with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.) and CMM operations.
- Knowledge of FAI (AS9102) and quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with engineering and suppliers.
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle for travel to and from supplier locations.
- Must meet ITAR requirements.
- Must be willing to undergo background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in mechanical/composites inspection.
Mileage reimbursement at US gov't rate .70¢ per mile (untaxed) Portal to Portal (P2P) rate.
