About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to further-strengthen Square Roots' existing strategic partnership with Gordon Food Service (GFS). The priority responsibility will be to drive sales growth across GFS customers, with a particular focus on the healthcare sector.
This role will be responsible for ensuring GFS sales and marketing teams are equipped to effectively promote and sell Square Roots products. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will directly engage with end customers to build relationships, identify opportunities, and expand Square Roots' market presence.
While much of the role will be performed remotely, candidates should be based in or near Grand Rapids, MI, for regular in-person meetings with colleagues and customers, and have the ability to travel for up to 50% of the time.
What You'll Do :
- Grow Our Business with GFS : Develop and execute strategies to drive sales volume through GFS.
- Sales Enablement : Provide training, sales materials, and ongoing support to GFS sales and marketing teams to ensure they can effectively communicate Square Roots' value to their customers.
- Customer Engagement : Establish and nurture relationships with key customer stakeholders, following up on program status, solving roadblocks, and optimizing for their success.
- Sales Strategy & Execution : Build and manage sales pipelines, identifying new and expanding customer opportunities and driving conversion through sales pitches and business development in various forums, including trade shows and industry events.
- Sales Operations & Data Analysis : Collate and analyze data around supply and demand, to understand trends, flag key insights, and convey findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
- Data-Driven Metrics Reporting : Convey relevant performance metrics internally and to GFS in a structured, analytical manner, surfacing key strategic insights supported by data analysis.
- CRM Management : Track and report customer activity, ensuring data accuracy and strategic follow-up.

Based on how we have planned for this role, we believe the range is $90k to $120k, However, this range may vary depending on skillset, experience, and geography.
