Patient Service Representative
Square Care Medical Group is currently seeking a highly capable and personable Patient Service Representative to assist us with day-to-day administrative tasks. This position is located at Complete Women's Healthcare. A private OBGYN practice located in Garden City, NY. In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments, obtaining patient information, and communicating between providers and patients regarding care.
To ensure success, the Patient Service Representative should possess extensive experience in medical office administration and the ability to interact with patients. This candidate will assist in promoting a positive patient experience as outlined in our mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities:
- Answers phones, schedules appointments, and performs administrative tasks.
- Obtains and updates patients' personal and health information.
- Creates and maintains electronic health records.
- Manages inquiries and relays messages about scheduling, referrals, and prescription refills.
- Calls patients about test or procedure results; returns patients calls with answers after consulting with provider.
- Reviews and responds to messages and tasks within EMR
- Verifies medical insurance information, as well as obtains prior authorization when required.
- Collects co-payments and balances from patients by entering payment information into EMR.
- Assists in gathering historical patient data, tests, etc. from outside service facilities
- Scans and processes data in patient medical record
- Maintains all compliance standards as determined by the Medical Group
- Performs other duties as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant Certification, Medical Office Administration Certification or similar preferred.
- Proficiency in integrated electronic health record such as Athenahealth.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Extensive experience in maintaining patient files and updating electronic health records.
- Exceptional ability to create a welcoming and patient-centered environment.
- Ability to answer calls, schedule appointments, obtain patient information, and relay messages.
- Ability to verify medical insurance information.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Full Time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00
