What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Engagement Specialist position at Square One?
Square One is a private nonprofit organization in Springfield, Mass.
Our programs include early education and care, and out of school time care for elementary school age children.
Our parent education, support and training programs are offered through groups, home visitation and personalized case management to help parents access whatever services are needed to be successful in their role as their child’s first teacher.
We are currently looking for a Family Engagement Specialist interested in joining our team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education, or related field, plus 3-5 years’ experience in working with families with young children.
- Training in reflective practice preferred, but not required.
- Training in trauma-informed care preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Training in child and family engagement preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.
- Ability to multitask, strong attention to detail and organization; ability to prioritize and complete tasks prior to deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively and as a member of a team. Maintain a professional manner at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, explore and respond to the needs of families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Desire to continually learn and improve skills through training and use of reflective supervision.
- Requires reliable transportation to travel between sites and training programs throughout the area.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Bilingual skills in both English & Spanish are required.
- Flexible hours are necessary. Some evening/weekend events possible.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Work collaboratively with program participants to set family goals, strategies and monitor successes and outcome.
- Coordinate with Square One’s Family Support Services to provide services, as needed.
- Connect families to needed community resources.
- Provide case management to ensure coordination of services.
- Assist with planning, preparation and providing parent groups.
- Complete all record-keeping as required by Square One, Springfield Public Schools and the Department of Early Education and Care, as indicated by project design.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality of documents, discussions, resources and information when working with families.
- Actively participate in required trainings and meetings as determined by Square One.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
