SUMMARY : The Early Learning Center Support is a dynamic role responsible for providing support across various functions within the center. This includes stepping in for Teachers, assisting with kitchen duties, and maintaining janitorial tasks as needed. The Support will also be relied upon to cover staff absences, breaks, and other scheduling needs, contributing to the smooth operation of the center. Flexibility and adaptability are key as the Center Support’s schedule will vary to meet the center's requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assist with Meal Preparation and Clean Up :

  • Support kitchen staff in meal preparation, including cooking and serving.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained during food handling and clean-up processes .

Collaborate with Coach / Mentor for Curriculum Time :

  • Work closely with designated mentor to develop schedules that allow teachers dedicated curriculum planning time.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions and activities to ensure minimal disruption to children's learning experiences.
  • Adherence to OSPI Guidelines in the Kitchen :

  • Follow all guidelines set by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) when working in the kitchen.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Allergy Awareness and Food Labeling :

  • Stay informed about center allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Properly label food items to ensure the safety of children with allergies.
  • Meet Federal and State Classroom Requirements :

  • Fulfill all Federal and State requirements for classroom assistance.
  • Maintain necessary certifications and qualifications for Assistant Teacher role.
  • Confidentiality and Professionalism :

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding issues related to staff, children, and families.
  • Uphold professionalism in all interactions within the center community.
  • Commitment to Continuing Education :

  • Demonstrate willingness to pursue further education, particularly if initial Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificates are not held.
  • Take advantage of scholarship opportunities provided by the center to support educational endeavors.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This position has no supervisory responsibilities

    QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :

    With direction from Director and Office Manager adhere to all State of Washington licensing standards and requirements.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands of a Classroom Assistant are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. At any given moment during the employees shift the position may require frequent lifting, carrying, holding, bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, reaching or moving children with a weight range of 10-50 pounds, or responding immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies.     OTHER : Obtain a T.B. test / screening. Must be able to pass a MERIT background check to start this process contact SICDC for instructions.

    Requirements :

    EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : Must be 18 years of age. AND / OR Completion of High School or G.E.D and two years relevant experience; Meet department of Children, Family and Youth (DCYF) minimum requirements.
