Position Overview:
Join the Pennsylvania Office of Administration s Edge Networking team within the Bureau of Infrastructure. This position provides technical support for network infrastructure across state agencies, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, and related network hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, wireless infrastructure).
- Monitor and troubleshoot complex network issues using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate in planning and designing network architecture, including capacity planning and network enhancements.
- Assist with network deployments, upgrades, and change management processes.
- Support tier-2 issue resolution, including working with service providers and other technical teams.
- Create Visio diagrams to document network configurations and assist with documentation for hardware and software deployments.
- Stay current with networking trends and technologies, recommending improvements to optimize network performance.
- Provide technical support to remote IT and operational staff as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certifications: CCNA and CCNP (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, SD-WAN technologies, and network management tools.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network infrastructure components (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Experience with network troubleshooting, testing, and capacity planning.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from a step ladder.
- Ability to travel to various meetings and training sessions as needed.
Additional Requirements:
- Must reside in Pennsylvania, preferably in the Greater Harrisburg area.
- Availability to report on-site for work as required.
