Position Overview:
Join PCCD as a User Experience and Accessibility Specialist to help enhance the usability and accessibility of critical systems, including Egrants, CIPP, and JHELD. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, improving user interfaces, and collaborating with development teams to optimize systems for all users, including those with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure usability and accessibility compliance for PCCD systems.
- Design and develop user interfaces, focusing on accessibility standards like WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Evaluate and remediate accessibility issues across platforms.
- Recommend and implement responsive designs, optimizing for mobile and tablet use.
- Collaborate on the modernization of legacy applications.
- Conduct testing and document results using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Assist with user acceptance testing and product release documentation.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and ensure accurate time tracking.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in developing applications in an object-oriented environment.
- Strong proficiency in Visual Basic, C#, XML, CSS, HTML, and SQL Server.
- Experience using accessibility compliance tools (e.g., Axe, JAWS, NVDA).
Desired Skills:
- Experience with UI/UX tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Bootstrap).
- Familiarity with Telerik .NET UI controls, W3C guidelines, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of public safety or criminal justice concepts is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor s degree or equivalent technical study (5-8 years of relevant experience preferred).
Additional Notes:
- The role requires occasional travel for on-site meetings and system testing.
- Successful background check, including fingerprinting, required.
