Job Summary:
SR1, a 501(c)(3) award-winning non-profit that serves diverse populations in health, technology, and education, is seeking Literacy tutors. SR1 provides a high-quality education to students in Central MS. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Literacy tutors to join our team. The ideal candidates will work with students who are two (2) grades below reading level and English Language Learners (ELLs) to improve their literacy skills and academic performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Literacy Instruction and Intervention:
- Implement effective literacy instruction strategies tailored to the needs of students who are 1-3 grades below reading level and ELL students.
- Provide targeted interventions to support struggling readers and monitor their progress regularly.
- Utilize data-driven approaches to identify students’ literacy needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Create engaging and interactive literacy activities to foster a love for reading among students.
Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with administration, school day teachers and out of school day teachers to design and implement a literacy curriculum that aligns with state standards and supports diverse learners.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Conduct regular assessments to evaluate students’ reading levels and track their progress over time.
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide individualized support to students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ literacy progress and report findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree or have received a degree in education, literacy, or a related field
- Strong understanding of literacy development, instructional strategies, and intervention techniques.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and their families.
- Commitment to the mission and values of SR1.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
