Overview

SR1 is on a mission to become a world leader in Community Empowerment by increasing economic and social mobility of citizens through educational, health initiatives —including agriculture via SR1Ag.org—and building a world-class school through SR1CPSA.org. To help lead this charge, we are hiring a Marketing, Media, and Branding Strategist (or Strategists)—a dynamic, passionate, and creative storyteller (or team) who thrives on creating content that moves people to action.


Whether you're a visionary solo marketer, content creator, or a duo with complementary skills (e.g., a video storyteller and a branding strategist), we welcome applications that align with our bold mission of community building for all.


This role is ideal for someone (or two people) who are energized by filming and editing videos, conducting heartfelt interviews, researching and integrating statistics into powerful narratives, and helping lead with purpose at community events.


You must genuinely love community and be a strategist content creation for good—someone who believes in the power of storytelling, research, and creativity to change lives.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Storytelling & Campaign Planning

  • Develop and execute powerful multimedia campaigns (especially video, social, and storytelling content) that elevate SR1’s local, national and global profile.
  • Integrate research and statistics into messaging to deepen storytelling and demonstrate SR1’s impact.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and news that affect the community and SR1’s mission.
  • Align messaging with SR1’s education, agriculture, and other health goals to support community empowerment for all.


2. Content Creation & Media Production

  • Create compelling videos and visual content, including interviews with students, farmers, families, educators, and community leaders.
  • Develop engaging social media, digital, and print content that promotes SR1’s mission.
  • Update and maintain SR1’s YouTube channel, website, and event content as needed to keep the public engaged and informed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to generate original material for newsletters, appeals, reports, and online platforms.


3. Fundraising Support & Donor Engagement

  • Assist with fundraising plans and donor campaigns through engaging branded content and media.
  • Develop donor-focused storytelling materials, including video testimonials and giving appeals.
  • Support relationship-building with donors, sponsors, and partners through branded visuals and strategic communication.
  • Contribute to grant proposals with compelling storytelling and supporting data.


4. Branding & Identity Development

  • Guide and maintain SR1’s brand identity across all channels—from digital to print to community events.
  • Ensure consistent and compelling messaging, visuals, and voice that reflect SR1’s vision and values.
  • Design and manage branding assets such as logos, color palettes, templates, and campaign graphics.


5. Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct interviews and gather stories from the field that spotlight the lived experiences of our communities.
  • Represent SR1 at events, meetings, and community forums.
  • Lead or assist with community volunteer efforts, particularly at events where SR1 performs or supports, helping to organize, capture, and share the impact through media.
  • Work collaboratively with program teams to align storytelling with on-the-ground outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Film, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in content creation, branding, marketing, or communications. Strong portfolios of video, campaigns, or digital work encouraged.
  • Proficiency with branding tools and platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Artificial Intelligence, Canva, website CMS, and video editing software.
  • Skilled in research and the use of statistics to support storytelling and impact narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media, create multimedia content, and build community trust.
  • Experience working with or in rural or underrepresented communities is a major plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary of $55,000 annually (negotiable based on experience and whether the role is split between two candidates).

Working Environment

  • Onsite work structure with in-person community visits and occasional travel.
  • Since we work closely with our communities, this role may sometimes require working evenings, weekends, or non-standard hours that best align with community schedules and engagement opportunities.
