Job Title: Application Integration Specialist - Student Systems
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: Longterm
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Integration & Architecture:
- Design and implement complex data interfaces to streamline business operations.
- Develop secure, efficient, and scalable integration strategies for student information systems.
- Provide strategic data management guidance to ensure system alignment with institutional objectives.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner with PMO teams, IT staff, and key stakeholders across multiple SUNY campuses.
- Work closely with external vendors to ensure compliance with data exchange and security requirements.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for system improvements.
Optimization & Innovation:
- Enhance workflow automation and project management tools for student systems integration.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data architecture and system security.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards (FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
Technical Implementation & Support:
- Oversee the deployment of new applications, interfaces, and integrations across the SUNY system.
- Troubleshoot data integration issues, system bottlenecks, and performance challenges.
- Monitor system performance, provide recommendations, and implement optimization techniques.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 10 years in application integration, software development, or data architecture within education, government, or corporate sectors.
- Strong experience in student information systems and large-scale data integration projects.
- Proven track record in enterprise IT system development, deployment, and support.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in data architecture, API development, and cloud-based integrations.
- Experience with ETL tools, middleware platforms, and integration technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL, XML, JSON, RESTful APIs, and scripting languages (Python, Java, or similar).
- Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), role-based access control (RBAC), and security protocols.
Soft Skills & Other Requirements:
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Willingness to travel to SUNY campuses as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education IT environments.
- Knowledge of student information system frameworks such as PeopleSoft, Banner, or Workday.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance regulations related to education.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and DevOps practices.
