What You'll Do as a Receiving Supervisor
As the Receiving Supervisor, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the receiving area, ensuring that all incoming materials are properly inspected, documented, and stored according to regulatory and company standards. You’ll also mentor staff, manage cross-functional communications, and help create a department known for accuracy, readiness, and pride.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise all incoming materials, including ambient, refrigerated, frozen, and hazardous shipments
- Ensure documentation accuracy, compliance with SOPs, GDP, GMP, and internal standards
- Train and develop Receiving Associates, ensuring readiness for audits and operational excellence
- Oversee warehouse conditions, organization, and equipment maintenance
- Work with Inventory and Shipping departments to maintain seamless material flow
- Review and resolve receiving discrepancies, including investigations and corrective actions
- Manage documentation flow, internal communications, and scheduling needs
- Represent the Receiving function during audits and client visits
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
- Review timesheets and maintain labor tracking logs
- Maintain material handling and supply inventory across temperature-controlled zones
- Lead through example by upholding SBS’s RICE values in all internal and external interactions
Who You Are
We’re looking for a dynamic individual with both leadership capability and a commitment to operational integrity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years in logistics or warehouse operations (biopharma or life sciences preferred)
- 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods
- Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and planning skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in GMP/GDP-regulated environments
- Forklift/scissor-lift operation experience
- Familiarity with cold chain logistics or handling of controlled materials
- Problem-solving ability and a proactive mindset
Work Environment
You will work in an active warehouse setting and must be comfortable navigating a variety of temperature zones:
- Ambient (59–86°F)
- Cold Room (36–46°F)
- Freezer (0 to -10°F)
The role includes repetitive physical activity, lifting, and material handling. Packaged hazardous materials may be involved.
