Summary

The Future Energy Assets Analyst is responsible for assisting leadership in formulating strategic direction, goals, objectives, and technology readiness metrics for long-lead, future energy technologies.  Future technology options include carbon capture and storage, hydrogen infrastructure, hydrogen-fueled turbines, inverter- and non-inverter based long-duration energy storage, enhanced and advanced geothermal, direct-air carbon capture, advanced nuclear, and other new energy technologies that may be necessary to meet SRP’s 2050 decarbonization goals.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for developing, refining, and maintaining future system asset roadmaps, associated implementation plans, and risk registers.  This includes establishing clear results-based objectives and milestones for each technology, go / no-go decision points, and assisting leadership with resource and investment prioritization.
  • Develop and utilize tools to track and report on progress against the established roadmaps, assessing risks, and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee and ensure collaboration across the enterprise with clarity around roles and responsibilities, including collaboration across organizations to seek feedback in affected areas of future system asset development work.
  • Establish and track capital and O&M budgets as needed to facilitate execution of key roadmap activities.
  • Negotiate beneficial agreements with strategic partners across the technology development ecosystem including technology companies, developers, financial organizations (VC, private equity, private debt, etc.), and others.
  • Develop communication and briefing materials to support executive leadership, Board, and stakeholder discussions around future technology development activities.
  • Perform strategic market and business studies and analysis.
  • In conjunction with other departments, perform or support cost studies and establish use cases for future, long-lead technology options to meet SRP's load requirements and achieve corporate strategic goals. These decisions have a direct and lasting impact on SRP's financial performance, reliability, and achieving sustainability goals.
  • Present results of analysis and recommended courses of action to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participation in industry conferences, including occasional out of state travel.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
  • Experience

  • For an associate level, a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four years.)
  • For a journey level, a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experienced plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, six years-eight of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six years.)
  • For a senior level, a minimum of five years of related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years.)
  • Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

    Education

    A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

    Hybrid Workplace

    SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
