Sr. Software Engineer

Location(s) : Newtown, CT / Remote US_Massachusetts / Remote US_Florida / Remote US_Texas

What You Will Get To Do :

    • What You Will Bring :

  • 5 years overall software development experience with C# / .NET, including debugging skills
  • 5 years overall database design & development experience with MSSQL, with a strong knowledge of relational database principles, database tuning, and query optimization
  • Experience building web-based applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of computing environments (client-server applications, web applications, networks, databases)
  • A desire to always learn new things, collaborate with team members to move the product forward
  • Proficient with MS based tooling including but not limited to, Visual Studio and SSMS
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

    • Core Software Skills

  • Must understand object oriented programming, inheritance, polymorphism
  • Must understand service oriented architecture, programming, and design patterns
  • Proficiency with source control (Git or equivalent)
  • Experience with .NET Framework a must, experience .NET Core / Standard a plus
  • Experience building, maintaining, or interacting with APIs
  • Fundamental understanding and experience with multi-threading, multi-processing, and how to scale in general

    • Core Database skills

  • Can create and alter SQL tables, functions, and procedures
  • Understands Inner and Outer joins
  • Strong knowledge of how to construct performant queries, and how to analyze execution plans
  • Strong SQL debugging skills using sql profiler, tracing, or other means
  • Understands the different types of indexes, how to construct them and when to use them
  • Understands deadlocks and how to avoid them
  • The ability to review other developers' SQL and be a key resource in recommending optimizations and identifying bottlenecks
  • Comfortable with cursors, table variables, output parameters, identity columns, temporary tables their scope
  • Understands database normalization, and when denormalization makes sense

    • Business Analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate opinions and ideas
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving abilities

    • Preferred Qualification

  • Previous experience with financial applications is strongly desired
  • Previous experience with distributed systems / message brokers
  • Experience with web based technology, including ASP.NET, MVC, and Web Forms
  • Experience or understanding of UI tech including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and modern frameworks like VueJS or React
  • Previous experience with microservice architecture
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • The user of Fiddler or other related network debugging tools
