Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician with a strong background in the food industry or bakery sector to lead and oversee our quality assurance programs. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with food safety regulations, maintain certifications, and drive continuous improvement in product quality. This role may also be referred to as Q/A Technician, QC Technician, or QS Technician.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, SQF, and FSPCA food safety programs.
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory requirements.
Lead audits, inspections, and certifications related to SQF, GMP, and food safety standards.
Manage and train quality assurance teams on best practices for food safety and quality control.
Investigate and resolve customer complaints, non-conformances, and deviations.
Oversee product testing, documentation, and corrective action plans to maintain product consistency and safety.
Collaborate with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to ensure quality from raw materials to finished goods.
Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Assurance (QA) policies.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and food safety awareness.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Management in the food or bakery industry.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, SQF, and FSPCA programs and certification requirements.
Experience with GFSI standards, FSMA compliance, and third-party audits.
Ability to lead and mentor a team while driving a strong food safety and quality culture.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified HACCP, SQF Practitioner, or FSPCA PCQI.
Experience with food microbiology testing, allergen control, and sanitation programs.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
