Position: AI Applications Engineer

Location: onsite Milpitas, California (Hybrid)/remote in the United States

Job Description: 

SS8 is seeking a motivated Entry-Level AI Applications Engineer to join our team and help drive innovation in AI-powered intelligence systems. As an AI Applications Engineer, you will work on integrating and optimizing open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) into our suite of intelligence solutions. You will contribute to developing AI-driven features that enhance data analysis, pattern recognition, and actionable intelligence for our clients. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with a passion for applying AI technologies to solve real-world challenges in intelligence and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities:

LLM Integration and Optimization

• Implement and fine-tune open-source Large Language Models for SS8's applications.
• Work with senior engineers to design scalable APIs and pipelines for LLM-based features.
• Optimize models for performance in resource-constrained environments.

AI-Driven Solutions Development

• Build AI-powered tools for data classification, natural language understanding, and predictive analytics.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Data Engineering and Preprocessing

• Work with diverse datasets to prepare input for model training and inference. Use RAG frameworks to make advanced chat interfaces available to customers
• Assist in automating data pipelines to ensure data quality and availability.

Testing and Deployment

• Test, validate, and monitor the performance of deployed AI solutions.
• Debug and address issues in real-time deployments to ensure reliability.

Collaboration and Learning

• Partner with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in open-source LLMs and share insights with the team.

Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience working with open-source LLMs (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers, OpenLLM, GPT models).
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of data preprocessing and manipulation using libraries like Pandas and NumPy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to rapidly evolving technologies.

 Required Skills and Educational Background:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience working with open-source LLMs (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers, OpenLLM, GPT models).
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Soft Skills:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience contributing to or using open-source AI/ML projects.
• Understanding of MLOps practices and version control tools (e.g., Git).

Annual Base Pay Range (USD): $75,000 - $105,000

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The expected annual pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
