Job Description
SUMMARY
The Journeyman Electrical under general direction provides operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of secondary components of the electrical distribution and all fixed and non-fixed electrical equipment in a safe, and efficient manner in response to or in support of customer needs. The Journeyman Electrician/Maintenance Technician also performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties for the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department, and is assigned to work for either the Director, or the Maintenance Supervisor on a regular basis.
Learns and utilizes the site CMMS. Update work status and document tasks completed in the CMMS utilizing a mobile device. It is critical information is updated in real time. Attention to detail is vital to our day-to-day operations.
JOB DUTIES
Working knowledge of local, state and the National Eclectic Code (NEC). Reads blueprints and diagrams, determines materials needed, estimates time and material costs on installations, and requests supplies to assure timely and adequate availability.
Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power & hand tools and other necessary equipment.
Pending and installing EMT, rigid, plastic-bond and steatite conduit
Troubleshoots all electrical systems
Locates cable that ranges from low to high voltage throughout campus for various contractors
Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, or diagnoses malfunctions of electrical systems.
May be called upon to lead a group of workers on a project, teach maintenance skills to other members of the department, review work of outside vendors and non – licensed maintenance workers and make punch lists.
Helps determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs or projects.
Responds to emergency problems in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed.
Maintains logs, performs rounds, and completes tests, and inspections.
Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
Serves as a member of facility’s emergency response team.
Performs related and other departmental duties as required.
Education and Experience Required: High school diploma, or equivalent –5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline. Must have a Journeyman Electrical License. Ability to read, comprehend and transmit complicated detailed instructions in writing and orally. Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, or models to learn work layout, or plans own work layout, making routine computations as needed.
Physical Demands: Sits, stands, bends, kneels, climbs stairs, ladders, and equipment, has good sense of balance to work on heights. Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.
Working Conditions: Some exposure to elevated degrees of high heat, noise, dust, dirt and/or areas requiring infection control. Requires meeting deadlines for completion of work on a daily basis. Work whatever hour’s necessary to maintain facility in safe manner including weekends and nights. Requires the ability to drive a company vehicle on a daily basis.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
