Job Description Staff Software Engineer (SS&C Technologies, Inc., San Francisco, CA): The Staff Software Engineer is based at SS&C’s office in San Francisco, California with a hybrid telecommuting benefit. The incumbent must reside within commuting distance from SS&C’s San Francisco office. The Staff Software Engineer participates in the full software development life cycle. Specific duties will include: Performing major feature enhancements and architectural redesigns - projects that span multiple components of the solution and/or require multiple phases. Building and implementing new unit test suites for new areas of testing. Participating in sprint planning. Leading multi-person developer teams to deliver complex projects. Working with business analysts in defining and analyzing requirements. Collaborating with architects and lead engineers in defining architecture. Implementing key modules as per development guidelines. Mentoring junior team members. Delivering sophisticated features that are a high impact to the business. Working with quality assurance teams for validating software functionality. Implementing reusable components, libraries, REST APIs and SOAP APIs. Working with relational database systems and NoSQL database systems. Writing code independently and in-line with documented requirements. Ensuring code quality through testing. Writing effective unit test to prevent regressions in their code. Minimum requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of experience in a software engineering role. Alternately, will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in a software engineering role. Must have: 3 years of experience implementing REST APIs and SOAP APIs. 2 years of experience with front-end technologies: such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or React. Understanding of microservice architecture. 1 years of experience working with cloud-native technologies. 3 years of experience working with Java specifications, frameworks, and libraries. Proven ability with computer science fundamentals: data structures, design patterns, network communication, and operating systems. Understanding of software architectures: distributed, client server, SOA, and multi-tier. Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases. Understanding of containers and container orchestration. Understanding of CI/CD processes, tools, and technologies.
