What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician II- Nights 6pm-6am position at SSI Foods LLC?
Key Duties/Responsibilities
This position will perform the regular maintenance of large production machinery, refrigeration systems and other production plant-based equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts
- Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines
- Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently
- Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas
- Make necessary modifications and implement test runs
- Prepare reports documenting work performed
- Fabrication or repair of basic equipment and tools needed for operations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
This position will work nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

- Ability to operate and/or test specified equipment
Education and Experience
- Some technical related coursework or equivalent experience required
- Two years working in a food processing/manufacturing environment required
- Welding experience preferred
- Basic understanding of ammonia-based refrigeration systems preferred
- Internal transfers - worked at least 6 months in prior position
- Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Prolonged periods to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Ability to move in, around and under equipment.
- Ability to work in a cold and hot wet environment.
- Work in refrigerated environment.
