Job Summary:
The Project Manager for Plumbing Construction is responsible for managing all aspects of plumbing construction projects, including estimating, project oversight, and business development. This role involves preparing accurate estimates and managing projects from bid preparation to final completion. The Project Manager will independently supervise projects of varying sizes and complexities, taking full responsibility for project outcomes, including profit and loss accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Identify new project opportunities and participate in pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to compile accurate estimates
- Coordinate with General Contractors and Engineers to address budgeting and pricing inquiries
- Perform bid layouts, material counts, and prepare project cost totals
- Conduct detailed material take-offs per system and obtain necessary supplier quotes
- Develop project estimates and prepare proposals and required documentation
- Establish project budgets and schedule of values
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates
- Monitor labor, material, and job costs to enhance performance and profitability
- Participate in monthly work-in-progress (WIP) meetings and assist with billing processes
- Procure materials for assigned projects
- Manage and coordinate project activities to ensure adherence to budget and schedule
- Oversee construction progress, supporting the foreman and addressing potential job cost impacts
- Prepare and manage project change orders to maintain profitability and scope alignment
- Act as the primary contact for General Contractors and field teams, effectively communicating project updates and changes
Business Development:
- Represent the company in customer meetings and presentations, showcasing plumbing expertise
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals
- Participate in industry and customer events to promote plumbing services
- Cross-sell additional business services to existing and potential customers to drive growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of plumbing experience with a journeyman or master’s plumbing license
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in plumbing construction or a related industry
- Strong skills in estimating and project management
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and industry codes
- Proficiency in reading construction plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients, contractors, and team members
- Strong understanding of project budgets, scheduling, and cost control
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
- Valid driver’s license
