Geotechnical Field Technician

SSL Geotechnical based in Bowling Green Kentucky is seeking candidates for a Geotechnical Driller and Driller’s assistant job openings. Ideal candidates for a Geotechnical Driller will be familiar with geotechnical drilling and well installation using Hollow-Stem auger, and Direct Push environmental Sampling. Experience with Geoprobes a plus. We operate Geoprobe 7822DT machines. Experience with excavators, skid steers, and construction equipment is a plus.

• Geotechnical field drilling activities, including but not limited to: drilling and sampling of geotechnical test borings, SPT, installation of wells, plugging and abandoning of wells, drilling of soil borings, and environmental sampling.
• Be available for drilling projects that require both in-state and out-of-state travel. 90% of our jobs are within 60 miles and allow the employee to be home at night.
• Adhere to USDOT drug and alcohol requirements
• Compose required driller’s logs
• Comply with weekly/daily safety protocols, as provided by the drilling manager
• Supervise the maintenance of drill rigs and equipment
• Maintenance/organization of vehicle tracking paperwork and/or digital files
• Be dependable and consistent with attendance
• Follow SSL policies and protocols
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to operate and maintain drilling equipment and tools.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Be in good physical condition with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, have the ability to routinely lift 50-90 pounds
• Ability to work independently, have strong verbal communication, and ability to troubleshoot
• 1 year field drilling experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment
• Physical requirements also include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity sufficient to operate a mobile phone and write legibly. This position requires walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, feeling, climbing, twisting, and the ability to physically maneuver construction sites, excavations, and uneven terrain. Vision, speech, and hearing must also be adequate to perform the essential tasks.

The salary for Geotechnical Driller is commensurate with experience. SSL is a family owned Company and promotes a healthy work-life balance. All new hires are subject to pre-employment drug screening, background check, medical physical, and a 90-day probationary period.
