Job Summary: As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at SSM Health, you will be responsible for ensuring the assigned healthcare facility maintains a safe environment for staff, visitors, and patients. This includes leading emergency preparedness functions and collaborating with teams to achieve operational excellence in various areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides subject matter expertise to lead collaborative teams in achieving operational excellence in Environmental Health and Safety, Fire and Life Safety, Hazardous Materials and Waste, and Industrial Hygiene.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards such as NFPA, OSHA, DNR, EPA, CMS, and The Joint Commission.
- Serves as internal auditor of compliance and works independently or with others to collect, organize, and report data.
- Cordinates or conducts internal surveys and investigations and attends external regulatory inspections.
- Provides leadership for the Emergency Preparedness program, including assuring JC/CMS Emergency preparedness requirements are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- One year of experience.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
