Leveraging your deep industry experience in structural engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing innovative structural technologies and solutions that enhance the performance, efficiency, constructability, seismic resilience, and cost-effectiveness of our clients' facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of innovative structural concepts specifically for cutting-edge high-tech facilities and related environments, including detailed feasibility studies, technical and seismic assessments, overcoming unique challenges and requirements, development of structural system alternatives, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Design and optimization of structural systems to minimize vibration transmission to sensitive equipment. This includes the application of advanced vibration isolation techniques, tuned mass dampers, and active vibration control systems.
  • Design and optimization of structural systems for high seismic regions, with a focus on minimizing seismic risk to sensitive equipment and critical operations. This includes the application of advanced seismic analysis techniques, response spectrum analysis, time history analysis, and nonlinear dynamic analysis, to evaluate the seismic performance of complex structural systems.
  • Collaborate closely with architectural and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of structural systems with cleanroom requirements, including stringent deflection limitations, air handling system integration, and equipment support.
  • Design and optimization of structural systems to accommodate complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, including heavy equipment loads, pipe racks, and utility tunnels. Focus on space optimization, accessibility, and constructability.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative structural materials and construction techniques to enhance performance, reduce cost, and improve sustainability. This includes the application of high-strength concrete, advanced composites, and modular construction methods.
  • Design and optimization of foundation systems for heavy equipment loads and stringent settlement requirements. This includes the application of deep foundations, mat foundations, and soil improvement techniques.
  • Proactively identify and evaluate emerging structural technologies, materials, and analysis techniques specifically relevant to high-tech manufacturing, industrial facilities, and related technical environments. This includes advanced modeling software, sensor technology, and structural health monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to develop detailed designs for innovative structural systems. This includes the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Proactively identify and evaluate emerging technologies, materials, and equipment relevant to high-tech manufacturing, industrial facilities, and related technical environments. This includes staying abreast of industry trends, attending conferences, and conducting literature reviews.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. This includes:
    • Sharing best practices and lessons learned.
    • Conducting technical training sessions.
    • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to clients, effectively communicating the value proposition of innovative solutions. This includes:
    • Developing technical presentations and reports.
    • Participating in client meetings and workshops.
    • Building strong client relationships.
Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of practice or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of employment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and engineering of structural systems specifically for high-tech manufacturing, industrial facilities, and related technical environments.
  • Proven track record in the design and analysis of seismic-resistant structures, including experience with base isolation, energy dissipation systems, and other advanced seismic design techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in structural innovation and technology development within the AEC industry.
  • Expertise in advanced structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, ANSYS).
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE) as they apply to high-tech facilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to complex structural systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven track record of innovation and creativity.
  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
