Summary/Objective
The Planning Manager will oversee a team of Production Planners creating schedules for operations execution. This role will be a linchpin in the corporate Sales & Operational Planning process ensuring an effective process that supports the company’s growth objectives. The Planning Manager role is highly visible and extremely impactful in servicing the business needs. Success in the Planning Manager role requires skillful collaboration and adaptability to support the needs of external customers and internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Planning and Scheduling : Oversees the creation and execution of finite production schedules, master production schedules and coordination of product configuration changes into production.
- Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) : drives the implementation of the company’s S&OP process. Ensures cross functional engagement in the process. Helps define data sources, format and cadence of corporate S&OP meetings.
- Leadership : Leads a team of Production Planners inclusive of coaching, training, and development of each team member. Provides regular performance feedback and action plans to help each associate learn and grow.
- Reporting : Owns key performance metrics at both the corporate and department level. Manages action plans with appropriate stake holders across the company when metrics are below target.
- Inventory Planning : Continuously evaluates inventory targets versus actuals and adjust system parameters and/or fulfillments strategies as needed in response to variation in demand or supply.
- Customer Support : Ensures timely responses for customer quote / order inquiries. Ensures risks to daily shipments are mitigated through coordination and prioritization across planning, operations, quality, assembly and warehouse functions.

Entry Level Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors Degree or progressive growth through planning, scheduling or other supply chain positions.
- Minimum 5 years working in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years working with ERP Systems.
- Minimum 3 years supervising or leading teams.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (Formula writing, Pivot Tables, Macros, etc.).
