Loader Operator
The Loading Machine Operator will maintain and operate loading equipment. A Wheel Loader Operator is responsible for operating a wheel loader to transport materials around a worksite, such as earth, sand, gravel, and debris, as well as loading and unloading trucks and other vehicles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Operates loading equipment and heavy machinery including wheeled loader, skid-steer, bulldozer, scraper loaders, power shovels, stripping shovels, and backhoes (second compactor).
· Effectively completes tasks such as backfilling excavations and breaking concrete or rock using appropriate equipment.
· Operate a wheel loader to load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner.
· Operate a wheel loader to spread and level materials such as gravel, sand, asphalt.
· Assist with the loading, unloading, and movement of materials around the job site.
· Conducts routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
· Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
· Follow instructions from supervisor regarding material loading and transportation.
· Transports materials around job sites.
· Consults digging plans, machine specifications, and safety procedures for specific tasks.
· Ensures work is completed to specification by observing grade stakes, material levels, hand signals, and other markers.
· Ensure the wheel loader is kept clean and in good working condition.
· Assists ground crew when there is no equipment to operate.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to operate heavy machinery.
· Ability to work well as part of a team and have good decision-making skills.
· Ability to have good time management to complete projects in an efficient manner.
· Knowledge of excavation, compaction, loading and unloading procedures and techniques.
· Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans.
· Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of traffic regulations and laws pertaining to large vehicles.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Safety:
· Promote, execute, and adhere to SSP safety program.
· Wear proper PPE.
· OSHA 10-Hour safety
· Attend regular safety meetings.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· One to two years of related experience desired.
Physical Requirements:
· Able to complete physically demanding work.
· Able to lift and carry heavy objects.
· Good hand-eye-foot coordination and sense of balance.
· Able to kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward spaces to repair equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 48 per week
