Position Overview:

The Pedestrian Traffic Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient pedestrian circulation in areas assigned. This role involves managing pedestrian flow in high-volume areas and mitigating conflicts between pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and manage pedestrian traffic control measures as required by law.
- Ensure the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians around the Hudson Square site.
- Monitor high pedestrian volume areas to prevent congestion and enhance pedestrian safety.
- Address and mitigate conflicts between pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles resulting from construction activities.
- Collaborate with construction crews and other stakeholders to implement effective traffic management strategies.
- Comply with all departmental requirements and permit stipulations related to pedestrian traffic management.
Qualifications:
- At least FIVE (5) YEARS of law enforcement, traffic enforcement, military, or certified Flagger experience.
- Law enforcement experience may include service in organizations such as: New York City Police Department (including NYPD Traffic), New York City Department of Corrections, New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police, New York State Police, military police or comparable municipal law enforcement agencies
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of pedestrian traffic control measures and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in managing pedestrian traffic in construction zones.
- Additional certifications or training in traffic management or safety protocols.
