Job Description and Schedule:

We are seeking personnel to work as Traffic Managers at JFK International Airport in Queens, New York. We have work at UBS Arena, Barclays Center and many more locations. A description of the Traffic Manager role is as follows:

• Understand and apply safe traffic control practices.
• Actively manage and ensure the continuous flow of traffic.
• Continually monitor traffic, report conditions and operational impact.
• Maintain free-flowing lanes of traffic where needed.
• Keep pedestrian crosswalks clear of stopped or standing vehicles.
• Prevent the “staging” of vehicles; direct any stopped or standing vehicle to leave the area.
• Prevent, report, and coordinate the removal of unattended vehicles.
• Report unusual activity, hustler activity, and homeless activity.
• Assist others with directions and other information about activity in the area.
• Receive and communicate instructions and information clearly, firmly, and courteously.
• Watch for known unsafe behaviors and changing traffic and weather conditions.
• Uphold the policies and standards of SSPTMS and our client.

The following schedule options are available at JFK IAT Terminal 4 ONLY: Working part of the weekend is essential.

• OPTION 1: 3pm to 11pm, 4 to 5 days per week.
• OPTION 2:11pm to 7am, 4 to 5 days per week.

Job Requirements:

Licenses and Certifications:

• NYS Unarmed Security Guard License - Required for Hire to work at JFK IAT terminal 4.
• Flagger Certification (4hr) - Required Within 30 Days.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications - Required Within 90 Days.
• OSHA-30 and SST are also preferred but are not required.

Education and Experience:

• A high school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• At least one (1) year of airport/terminal operations knowledge and experience is preferred.
• At least one (1) year of flagging, traffic management, airport security, and/or other safety related experience is preferred.

Uniform:

• We supply your hat, pin, t-shirt, vest, sweatshirt, winter jacket, raincoat (provided at the job site to use while working) , whistle, radio, and lighted baton.
• You must provide your own pants and footwear in accordance with our uniform and appearance guidelines.

Other:

• Please be punctual and dependable.
• Assignments are outside and we work in all weather conditions including wind, rain, and snow.
• You must agree to complete all training and credentialing requirements for work on the project.
• You must have a smartphone with cellular service.
• You must be able to manage stressful situations, like challenging and uncooperative individuals in an unauthorized area, while keeping a professional attitude and demeanor.
• Please have a happy, caring, and positive attitude.
• Strong communication skills, including radio communication skills, are required.
• You must be trustworthy and ensure confidentiality when necessary.
• Please be clean and professional in your appearance.
• You must be able to stand and walk for upward of 8 hours per day.
