The Long Term Planning Engineer has a site based scope reporting through the site Mine Technical Services group. The position reports to the Mine Technical Services Manager and is responsible for the delivery of long term mine planning work packages. This includes long term planning aspects of business planning and forecasting, support of site-based studies, projects, Full Potential, and annual Strategic Business and District Master Plan activities with the SSR Corporate Growth and Innovation group.

Job Description
The Long Term Planning Engineer has a site based scope reporting through the site Mine Technical Services group. The position reports to the Mine Technical Services Manager and is responsible for the delivery of long term mine planning work packages. This includes long term planning aspects of business planning and forecasting, support of site-based studies, projects, Full Potential, and annual Strategic Business and District Master Plan activities with the SSR Corporate Growth and Innovation group.
The Day To Day
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership in all aspects of the role.
- Generation of reliable, timely and well communicated long term planning work packages.
- Produce Life of Mine production plans with challenging but achievable inputs, with transparent risks and opportunities identified.
- Planning support for Full Potential and Strategic Business and District Master Plan activities.
- Provide technical Risk and Opportunity characterization for the Life of Mine plans.
- Reserves and Resource estimation, planning and annual MRMR reporting.
- Complete mine physicals for the draft and final budget plans and work with site process and financial teams to assemble a complete package.
- Supporting mine design and scheduling.
- Life of Mine infrastructure planning.
- Support for reclamation and closure planning.
- Conduct economic evaluations on mid to long term development and open pit pushbacks.
- Support and collaborate with the site mine planning teams in the alignment of the Life and Mine with short- and medium-term planning functions.
- Liaise with geology and geotechnical engineers to determine and apply design criteria for the mine being designed.
- Liaise with mine operations to ensure practicality of designs.
Education
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in science (mine engineering) with a professional designation highly desirable.
- Experience in a range of mine planning horizons including long term mine planning, production support, mine operations and design in large and diversified mine sites, with preference for experience in conventional hard rock Gold/Copper-Gold operations.
- Experience in operations with complex mine and process situations preferable and a knowledge of mine methods, mine design, production scheduling (strategic and tactical), equipment selection, reserve estimation and economic evaluations.
- Knowledge of unit costing methods for resource and reserve analysis and of cash flow and financial analysis through the use and manipulation of project financial models.
- Experience with Xeras cost estimating tool a plus.
- Knowledge of exploration methods and resource estimation is desired
- High level of competence in the use of Minesight mine planning software, including optimization techniques and experience with mine design and scheduling packages. Similar experience from other platforms such as Deswik, Geovia Whittle, or Maptek will also be considered.
- Strong problem solving and 3D visualization skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Ability to build and maintain a strong communications network with planning peers, Technical Services Managers, Project/Study Directors, Mine Managers, and Corporate teams.
- Will be required to access mining and processing areas, rough terrain, or exploration sites.
- Must be able to work at high altitude.
- Frequent working at a computer/monitor or keyboard.
- Must be sensitive to cultural differences at the operations within the Company.

Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
