SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties related to a full-service line kitchen, including accurately and thoroughly reading customer orders, preparing items to specifications and established procedures, maintaining product quality, and efficiently utilizing department labor. Other duties include preparing and restocking various items in coolers/dry storage, prep work, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. This position may be required to assist with customer orders and therefore is expected to deliver a friendly attitude that includes acknowledging the customer and creating an environment that encourages repeat business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CATERING
- Responsible for having thorough knowledge of all aspects pertaining to catering, including but not limited to ordering procedures and options, all menus and items, portion amounts, delivery procedures and options, the catering program, the delivery driver program, and order preparation capabilities with respect to time limitations.
- Responding to any messages, requests, and/or questions left by catering customers, whether by phone or e-mail, swiftly and intelligently.
- Checking and processing any catering orders that were placed through the web site or voice mail.
- Aiding in the organization of delivery drivers, including but not limited to producing maps, obtaining, and scheduling drivers, and making sure that all information needed by the driver is presented.
- Having a basic knowledge of food preparation, order execution, and general recipe content for such occurrences of allergies, diets, and other health related issues.
BANQUET ROOMS
- Providing customers with a dependable, accurate, and friendly wealth of knowledge regarding our banquet facilities. Duties include complete knowledge of all aspects dealing with out banquet rooms, showing, and booking banquet rooms, expertise in our menus and menu options for the banquet rooms, and obtaining complete customer satisfaction while adhering to the company’s banquet room rules and procedures.
- Responding to any messages, requests, and/or questions left by banquet customers, whether by phone or e-mail, swiftly and intelligently.
- Performing all activities that deal with banquet room inquiries and bookings, including taking deposits, follow ups with tentative customers, knowledge and use of the banquet program, and cake or specialty ordering.
DINING ROOM
- Possessing the knowledge of and executing all activities regarding the dining room according to the company’s procedures and practices including but not limited to taking reservations and performing proper follow up practices, expertise in using the dining room program, being familiar with the products and services produced by/for the dining room, forming, and preparing set menus, ordering cakes, and taking party deposits.
- Making sure to keep positive customer relations and creating a positive dining experience for our guests in all respects.
Responding to any messages, requests, and/or questions left by dining room customers, whether by phone or e-mail, swiftly and intelligently.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Thoroughly communicates with staff on new changes and policies. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's established procedures, policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
College or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a well-organized individual that is self-motivated and takes charge, is dependable and responsible, enjoys new opportunities and challenges, enjoys working with and developing people, deals with criticism calmly and effectively, is careful about detail and is thorough in completing tasks as assigned and on time, is flexible and open to change.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge of and ability to thoroughly and effectively operate phone system, computers, registers and required software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read, analyze, and interpret ingredient specifications and recipes, general business periodicals, and or governmental regulations. Able to write and develop creative menu and meal plans, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff and owners.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of weights and measures. Ability to apply concepts such as ratios, and proportions for ingredient and nutritional information.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to regularly stand, stoop, kneel and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The work environment is quick paced in close quarters. Exposure to heat from ovens, grill and burners is frequent. Exposure to cool temperatures from coolers/freezers is occasional.
