As a Store Team Member, the number one requirement is having passion for animals and their humans!

Throughout the day you will:

· help a neighbor select the perfect toy for a terrier who likes to chew

· Review and compare the ingredient labels of several food brands for a concerned cat parent

· Fit a wiggle-butt of a dachshund with the perfect harness

· Stock shelves and ring up neighbor's purchases

· Break away from tasks and walk the sales floor time to time to help with recovery and neighbors

· Participate in in-store and out of store events when applicable

· Learn merchandising standards

· Clean when there is time to lean

· Perform routine daily tasks for opening and closing

A Pet Supplies Plus Team Member will likely do it all (which includes assisting our Grooming department too!) and may specialize in any of the following areas:

Cashier

• Process neighbor's purchases with trustworthy accuracy and efficiency
• Provide Neighbor Rewards Program information to ensure neighbors don’t miss any outstanding offers
• Communicate with the team by radio, giving direction on where a neighbor may need help or assistance with our services

Stock

• Safely unload our delivery trucks using the proper equipment
• Stock shelves to ensure Fido always gets his favorite chew toy and treats
• Take on the heavy lifting for our neighbors so they do not need to struggle to their car with a buggy full of cat litter, aquariums, two babies in a carriage and two large dogs . . . (Now that’s customer service AND a great work out!)

Animal Care

• Provide care for pets in our store, which may include cleaning habitats, feeding and handling the animals
• Answer neighbor's questions on animal care to help them find or maintain the perfect pet
• Inform our neighbors about the care and products needed for their new pet
• Catch crickets and fish as back-up to animal department when needed

Requirements

• Support each other by acting as back-up when extra help is needed
• Be knowledgeable about animals and our products in order to provide outstanding neighborly service
• Be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Comfortable with heavy lifting (50 lbs) and standing for long periods of time
• Ability to climb ladders
• All candidates must be 16 years or older and 18 to work in the animal department
