Job Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an estimator, or similar position, within the manufacturing industry, preferably in pressure vessel manufacturing or related sectors
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, quality standards, ASME codes, and safety protocols
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and project management principles
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- Competency in fact-based problem solving and analysis
- BSc in engineering, construction science, or relevant discipline preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Skilled use of precision measuring tools
- General knowledge of material types/grades and their machinability
- Proficient in relevant estimating
- Basic computer knowledge including Word, Excel, and ERP software navigation
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improve profitability
- Monitor the production hours executed against the estimated hours assigned for each project, to ensure projects are profitable
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and vendors, while understanding their needs and expectations
- Stay apprised of industry trends and innovations that are applicable to the company to support continuous improvement
- Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
- Preparing material and cost estimates for the product or service in a timely manner
- Creating labor estimates for any project
- Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
- Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Managing bids from vendors and contractors
- Using bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis such as the labor, material, production times, etc.
- Gather and negotiate quotes by subcontractors and vendors
- Presenting prepared estimates to management
- Compiling and recording actual costs
- Collaborate with the General Manager, verify capabilities as required
- Reviewing customer purchase orders to verify compliance with the quotation (estimate)
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times
