Job Summary:
The Onsite Production Inspector will efficiently and safely inspect parts for defects and blemishes, resulting in a product that meets quality assurance standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Check blueprints for quality and customer specifications.
- Check packing instructions per customer requirements.
- Visually inspects glass to detect imperfections: scratches, seeds, chips, cracks, and blemishes.
- Use sanding block or other tools as needed to smooth edges of glass.
- Produces the required quantity of parts with established specifications and tolerances.
- Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Maintains a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Knowledge of work instructions and operating procedures for specific work area.
- Knowledge of quality standards and procedures.
- Compliance with all safety requirements, including always wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, or other documentation regarding quality and customer specifications.
- Ability to lift glass plates from conveyor, perform inspection, and pack into skids.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Ability to read and comprehend manufacturing orders, general instructions, work and safety rules and regulations.
Education/Training Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- At least one (1) year of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on feet, standing and walking throughout the work are on a continuous basis, using tools, and performing repetitive actions
- Constantly positions self to maintain production, including frequent reaching, bending and stooping.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Physically demanding and lifting heavy parts repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Ability to communicate with team members.
- Work environment temperatures vary and may include extreme heat or cold based on outside temperatures.
