Description
The YMCA is seeking an engaging and nurturing assistant teacher to join our team. This position plays a key role in providing a safe and enriching environment for young children to learn, grow, and explore. As an assistant teacher, aiding in the overall operation of high-quality early learning will include promoting YMCA core values and encouraging lifelong learning. We are willing to train new assistant teachers and gain experience alongside our highly trained teachers and staff!
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in implementing daily lesson plans that align with the YMCA’S and EEC childcare curriculum and educational goals.

Provide hands-on support to the teaching team in organizing and implementing activities (e.g., games, arts and crafts, storytelling) and overall engagement with the children.

Ensure the safety and well-being of the students and maintain a clean and developmentally appropriate environment.

Foster positive relationships with children and their families through effective communication and collaboration.

Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development by encouraging positive relationships and participation in developmentally appropriate activities.

Observe and document children's progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the teaching team or childcare management.

Assists in providing reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate in activities.
Qualifications

Currently attending or a High School graduate.

Experience working with children (preferred)

The ability to develop positive and effective working relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. Activities that may be required as part of the job are climbing, running, swimming and other outdoor activities.
Salary : $17 - $19
