Description
The Attendant-Birthday Party will be responsible for conducting birthday parties safely and effectively in accordance with policies, practices and procedures established by the South Shore YMCA and as presented in the Birthday Party Handbook. Attendant must be motivated, upbeat and dedicated to creating a safe, engaging and fun environment for the children and families we serve.
Reports to: Manager-Member Services
CORE EXPECTATIONS:

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
-
Arrive one half hour before the scheduled party begins to assist family with set up.

Weekend and some weekday availability
-
Be familiar with the specific attributes of each party and party procedures.

Be familiar with age appropriate games/activities for children ages 2-12.
-
Commit to working at least 2 birthday parties per month.
-
Commit to working 2.5 hours per party from set up to clean up of party.
-
Facilitate party activities/games, and/or assist a specialist with party activities.

Assist family with party routines such as food, presents, and transitions from one phase of the party to the next.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & TEAMWORK

Develop positive, effective, respectful working relationships with staff and members.

Show a high level of enthusiasm.

Attend required staff meetings and complete required trainings.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or the Coordinator.

Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the South Shore YMCA Code of Conduct and represent the YMCA in a positive and professional manner.

Report all incidents with both staff and members to the Director and/or Coordinator.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Strive for the satisfaction and enjoyment of the birthday child and attendees.

Facilitate a high quality birthday party program.

Actively engage the children and families in attendance while representing the YMCA in a professional, upbeat manner. Interact in a friendly, engaging, and professional way.

Be familiar with Youth & Family Department programs. Direct people with further inquiries to Coordinators and Directors.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT
-
Ensures that party equipment is set up properly, is clean, safe, well maintained.

Break down and properly store all birthday party equipment.

Clean and restore all party zones to YMCA high standards for cleanliness.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT

Participates in YMCA fund raising activities/events in order to support the mission.

Qualifications
CERTIFICATES AND TRAININGS:
Required YMCA trainings to be completed:

New Employee Orientation (to be completed within 30 days of hire)

Child Abuse Prevention (renew annually)
-
OSHA and Emergency Procedures (renew annually)
-
CPR is to be completed within 90 days of hire (renew every 2 years)
The expectation is that these trainings will be kept up to date and renewed as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended period of time, walk, lift, and/or move up to 50 lbs., have finger dexterity grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear, and have visual acuity.
